Title: public, friend, family feature as on flickr.com
Post by: vuxes on February 07, 2005, 11:02:22 pm
I just signed onto www.flickr.com and tested out their user interface.

What I really like is the ability to mark a pic as "Public, Friend, Family" then to send an invite to someone and mark that person as "Friend" or "Family". The person receives an email invite, including a generated password. When the person signs up, he or she is automatically registered (probably the greatest turn off of any photo gallery is having to register to view a friend's photos), and sees only the photos he or she has privilege to see.

This feature is worth its weight in gold... and probably explains why flickr has skyrocketed into the stratosphere in popularity...

The coppermine in development (v 1.4x) may provide what you want.

You can have the same photos in different albums using keywords like Public, Friend, Family. You would then have 3 different albums for the three groups (using the same files).

You can set a password to each album. You can set a password hint so your friends who know about you can figure out the password from the hint. Or you could tell them the password in an email to the different groups.

Flagging this thread as "invalid", as the devel version already has got the feature that was requested.
