And a much more general question - is there a document that describes how CPG works, or outlines its structure, to help beginners know where to start?
Yes, it comes with the coppermine package: browse the docs folder. The documentation is also available online, click the link that says "documentation" at the very top of this screen.

Uh-oh.... this means I'm probably making a fool of myself... I can't find such a doc, in either the docs folder or the online documentation link above.  :-[ Was there one file in particular that you were referring to?

What I mean is something that says "index.php calls blah.php in order to define x, y, and z. Blah.php calls z.php... Z.php calls theme.php, which refers to template.html...". Or bottom up, or diagrammatically, or unstructured text notes.... whatever.

k, now I understand what you mean. Sorry, there is no such file available (yet). We're working on it though.

It basically takes a lot of detective work. An application with a good search function is a must.

Okay, thanks anyway. My shakey grasp of PHP doesn't help  :)
