Title: Private albums -- no icon..?
Post by: boii on November 01, 2004, 05:19:55 pm
so ive done the folllowing:

- created a group called 'vip'
- created a user called boii and put it in 'vip'
- created an album called whatever and made it: album can be viewed by members of the 'vip' group.
- flagged in the config:  Show private album Icon to unlogged user to 'yes'

if ones not logged in as 'boii', you dont see the album .. its hidden. shouldn't that flag show the private album icon?

whats wrong with this setup?

cheers.

What version (exact) are you using?

I have the same problem and I am using CPG 1.3.2. I get the 'private' icon for all the albums set as private even though I checked yes to the 'show icon of private albums for unlogged users'....

It used to work initially but not anymore. (since then I have implemented the 'who is online' hack found on this forum).
Thanks in advance for your help!  :)

Do you mean you don't get.  Because what you said is the way it is meant to work.

(First of all thanks for your quick answer Casper)

Actually the french translation for this option (Show private album Icon to unlogged user) is not very clear.

What I would like is to allow unlogged users to see the thumbnails of the private albums (on the main page) without allowing them to access the albums (prevent them from seeing the thumbnails within the albums and the actual pictures).
How can I achieve that?
Thanks again.

The term "private" is exactly what you're up to: set up the album in question (using "properties" next to the album thumbnail) to set the desired level of privacy. Then set "Show private album Icon to unlogged user" to "Yes", so users who are not allowed to access an album will see the thumbnail representing it.
If this is a language issue for you, you might want to ask for help on the french support board (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?board=38.0).
