Title: Save picture as .... would like .jpg, get only .bmp types in IE
Post by: Flying Dutchman on September 27, 2004, 10:20:51 pm
A right click (or clicking on the save icon) on the intermediate picture, or the original one, enables you to download the picture. So far so good. However I would like to enable my users to save the pictures as JPEG files, the same as the originals are. Unfortunately, that option is not available. I tried Mozilla, it works, but I cannot impose the use of Mozilla to my users. IE only gives .bmp as an option. Can this be solved on the Coppermine side? Or is this a IE-"feature"?

This has been asked before, and the solution posted (I think)

Please do a search for 'save as jpg', or save as 'jpeg' or 'not bmp'.

Hi Casper,

You're right. I found it. It refers to (for other users who are looking for the same):

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810978&Product=ie600

However this does not solve the problem, even after removing all (installed) files...

Do you have more suggestions?

Thanks,

Hi Caspar,

To make things even more interesting...:

I have on the same web hosting account the following sites:

www.janflorisboer.nl            -> save picture as... gives the choice jpg or bmp
www.familie.janflorisboer.nl   -> save picture as... gives only the option bmp

In both cases the IE-browser was used (version 6.0.2800.1106IC)

The first site was made with Arles Image Web Page Creator 5.7.2
The second was made with CPG 1.3.2

I'm very curious what the solution is. Hope someone knows...
