Title: 403 Forbidden error on /gallery/upload.php
Post by: jenepherre on September 26, 2004, 03:34:58 pm
I'm suddenly getting this message:
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /gallery/upload.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

When I click on the "Upload Picture" button.  I'm signed in as admin, though my registered members are having the same problem.  I double checked the groups configuration, and we are listed as having permission to upload pictures.  What could the problem be?

Perhaps you should check the chmod status of this file.
Does anybody have the right to execute it?

But that isn't a file where you have to do anything with the chmod status.  It's set to the default the same way all the other php files are.

Am I wrong and the chmod is supposed to be set to something other than the default?  That was never in any of the install instructions that I remember.

Check the permissions for that file.  It may have been changed accidentally by you or your host.

Apache is looking for an error page to display, which is set in the Apache config file (ErrorDocument 404).  That file is missing.  The file may have been accidentally deleted by you or your host.

Do you have a custom .htaccess file?  If so, this could be causing your problems.

What are the permissions supposed to be for that file?

I did just open a support ticket with my web host, so maybe they can shed some light on the problem.

Thanks for your help,

I have it set to 664, but depending on how your host has everything set up it may need to be 755.
