Title: Working with Coppermine in an Iframe (some themes work, - some don't)
Post by: kiig on September 21, 2004, 12:06:07 pm
I want to show my coppermine gallery in an Iframe (so it's fixed in size)... working with the Reynolds theme, - I discovered it look's weird in the Iframe, - but thought it was because of all my modifications :-)
But I reverted to the original, - and Project VII works for one, - Reynolds does not. (both of them are from the Paypal modified zip btw.)

Erm, - I not asking for anyone to solve this, - just to get it clarified if this is 'normal' behavior, - obviously depending on the way the different themes have been build.

What do you mean by "weird"? I looked at your gallery and it looks fine. Is there a particular section where it doesn't look the way you want it to?

didn't think you'd be so fast... :-)

Besides, - I'm running 2 galleries...

The one in question is here http://foto.igel.it (which looks 'weird' : try doing a simple refresh)
Without the Iframe, - http://foto.igel.it/index.php it looks allright, - with the unmodified Reynolds theme.

I'm still not sure what you mean by "weird." The only thing I notice is that the horizontal bar shows up because the page is wider than the browser width. I have a 1280x1024 screen and even at maximum I get the scroll bar. You have to consider that the browser needs some extra space on the side, so don't expect to be able to go all the way to the edge.

The iframe is set to be 1280 pixels wide. Your page does not need to be quite so wide. There is plenty of horizontal space. I suggest you not expect compatibility with such a high resolution because a very small minority of people use that. You would be excluding a lot of people. Even then, having lines of text that stretch across too much is hard and uncomfortable to read. As I said, I have a big screen, but I still prefer my browser to be 800 pixels wide. I also don't like one application monopolizing my screen space; that's why I got a big monitor :D. For most people, 800x600 is the best they can do. I'm putting in my personal opinion on things, but I'm sure others would feel the same way, too. ;)

you're right, - 800 pixels wide is also what's it's going to be, later on. (just tried wider to see if it changed anything, - I'm running 1600x1200 here so 1280 is still 'small' :-)  )
I tried from another computer, - and that show's it correctly in the Iframe, - so you're right, - nothing weird there.

What I get is this (see attached file).

I'll just start over with another theme that works on my computer as well... :-) and modify it to what I want.

Thanx for helping me out.
