Title: Working for 6 months now not
Post by: Stewwake on May 13, 2007, 01:34:29 pm
Hi there hope you can help,
I have been through the reccommeded docs & checked permissions & set file uploads to 1.

I get the following error when trying to upload:

Critical error
The file 'albums/userpics/10015/wake1.bmp' can't be inserted in the album

The image you have uploaded is corrupted or can't be handled by the GD library

File: /home/www/wakeboar/wakeboarding-photos/db_input.php - Line: 402

File sizes of, for example, 791kb wont upload, but very very small small files of say 5kb work fine.
I have asked the webhost if they have canged anything with GD but they said no. I tried using GD1 & imagemaick (path from webhost wont work with IM) but more errors.

Everything was working ok until now?

Works fine for me. If it's just that file then it probably is corrupted. Don't upload .bmp files to the web anyway - convert to jpg or png as appropriate.

Yes seems to work fine when a jpg file, it seems users were trying to upload bmp's at the same time I came across the error - & it looks as though that is the problem,
Is there any plans for coppermine/gd to cope with bmp's in the furure?

Thanks for the help, much appreciated

If you need BMP support try using imagemagick instead.

As Nibbler suggested: don't use BMPs on the internet. They are not suitable for use on the web. Imo you can ask from your users to understand that. Teach them to use the "save as..." dialog of MS Paint and save their pics as JPEGs instead of BMP.

Hi Guys thanks for getting back - I think the problem is solved now..

I have made a note in the upload section to convert and BMPs to JPGs - seems to be working A OK!

Cheers  ;)
