Users are able to upload photos but the photos are scrambled or distorted when viewed.
Here is the url http://www.rickert-fpjcr.org/modules/jmcontent/coppermine/
I will upload photo to an album called Pat Lynn's Crew for viewing. Please help.
My users are frustrated.

Hi,
The images are being corrupted.
How long has this been happening?
Is it happening to all users?
Does this happen when you ftp and batch add?[/list:u]
-
Seems to be happening to all users. I have tried several photos with same results. I ahve notiiced via FTP client that the photos (thumbs & normal) being upload are not making their way into a number folder in the userpics folder.
Have not tried FTP and batch upload. This is a user contribution site and that has not been our method of uploading photos.
Coppermine was functioning beautifully until the 23rd.

Has your server altered anything since then.
What image software does the server use, GD(1 or 2) or imagemagik?
Can you post a test account and login with upload rights.
-
The server uses GD1. homepageuniverse is the web host.
I will create a test account:
thanks.
-
GD 1 is significantly inferior in terms of image quality to GD 2, see the faq about the difference (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/demo/docs/faq.htm#GD1vsGD2) between them.
-
This could be realated to GD1, or it could be some other things.
1. Check your JPEG compression ratio to see if you accidentally lowered it to much.
2. If the pics have always looked like this, then it is most likely your GD1 library; however, you can attempt a repair by using the batch resize option to resize all the thumbs.
3. If the problem suddenly appeared, check to see if your host made any changes on the server (i.e. perhaps they upgraded to GD2 and you would need to switch the method in the config).
In general, you should only use GD1 if you must have compressed GIF support. Otherwise, you should ask the host to upgrade to GD2 (which does not support GIFs), or ImageMagick (which supports decompressed GIFs). Both are lightyears ahead of GD1 interms of quality and memory usage.
-
JPEG quality is set to 90; always has been.
Just for kicks I changed the configuration to GD2 and got corrupted uploads as well.
Any other thoughts.
What about the thumbs and normals not ending up in a number folder in the userpics folder. Before this started the images were created in a numbered folder. Is this unusual?
Thanks for the help.

I just tried GD2 configuration again and it uploaded the image fine without corruption.
Follow my previous link to see.
It seems that that my web host must have switched to GD2 sometime last week. I will confirm that from them and report back.
Thanks for the heads up and suggestions.
I really like coppermine; seems to be one of the better php scripts around.
-
Good, now you just need to use the batch resize to repair the thumbs that were damaged.
-
Now GD2 is failing and GD1 fails as well.
Could someone please follow my earlier url link and test a photo using the username and password I supplied to casper?
It may be a network problem at my web host's end.
Incidentally, the corrupted test images are being reported as 16KB when uploaded where the good test image is reported as 8 KB.
All help appreciated.
THX

There isn't much point unless you're willing to make the test account admin. You should PM such details; do not post them.

Hi kingston,
I just uploaded a pic as a test to the same album you used earlier. It is a known good pic, but was corrupted.
Please delete the pic from your gallery.

Ok,
I had a look in admin mode, and found the following.
Config seems to be correct.
Jpg's are still being corrupted.
PNG upload resulted in following error;
Fatal error: imagecreatefrompng(): gd-png: fatal libpng error: too many length or distance symbols in /home/httpd/vhosts/rickert-fpjcr.org/httpdocs/modules/jmcontent/coppermine/include/picmgmt.inc.php on line 178
This was a known good PNG.
