Title: Cannot save admin.php changes
Post by: Malm_Vogn on July 05, 2006, 03:09:00 pm
Hi

My latest Coppermine installation (1.4.8) will not let me save changes in admin.php. The installation itself was painless with no error messages. All functions and features seems to work OK, except for the Configuration panel / Admin.php:

Hitting the Save button, I get the standard IE / Firefox no-connection messages: "This page cannot be shown ..." / "The connection was reset while the page was loading.."

I run this installation as a intranet Gallery in a small office LAN, using Windows XP Sp2, Apache 2.0 webserver, with MyQSL 3.23.57 og php 5.02.  The Windows XP is of course (!) the Norwegian version. Looking for solutions on this forum I found a similar issue where the coppermine language pack in Polish was the root of the problem. But I do not have a webhost or ISP to blame/ask for help this time, so if anybody out there..

Best regards

Terje in Narvik, Norway

What do you mean by 'check your server for any security_mod'?

There are several mechanims available for webhosts that are meant to make the server more secure, i.e. hardened against attacks. Some of those mechanisms are being used with apache webserver, others affect the underlying operating system. If you have no idea what this is, ask your webhost.

mod_security is reported as a 'loaded module' ... not sure exactly what that means but i can check with the admin.  CPG is a script they offer through fantastico so i would assume it is support/supposed to be able to run.

Fantastico sucks, don't use it. Don't expect too much from your webhost - most don't test the scripts they offer through foobar crap like Fantastico. Don't expect that they will run flawlessly just because they offer a crappy auto-installer for it.

I didn't use the installer... I manually installed 1.4.8.  But I later installed 1.4.2 through fantastico also, just to see if there was the same problem; and it had the same problem.

It just seems like such a weird problem to not have the button appear.

Don't hijack this thread, you are already being supported on another and this is a different issue to yours.

Such issues are mutually exclusive.
