Title: CPG1.4 Batch-add files
Post by: borlavrin on April 21, 2006, 12:34:08 am
I understand and succeeded in using Batch-add using folders created under Albums.

Is it possible to Batch-add from folders in other directories or even other hard drives (not network)  I have over 5000 photos located in other directories created before getting involved with Coppermine.

Cheers,
Boris

If you're on Lunix, use symlinks

Your reference to symlinks made me examine the implications.  Does this mean that I could point to these other directories with an appropriate entry to replace:
 Config
Files and thumbnails advanced settings… albums/

yes, you could (not recommended though). Stuff that currently exists in the albums folder will be lost though, you'll have to move those files accordingly.

Hi!
I'm new to cpg.
As I understand files uploaded by FTP are used in albums from the directory they was uploaded to.
Is there a way to have cpg to move those files to the users's directory who is adding them to an album? Or should it go to the "Features request" board?

thanks,
Miklos

Coppermine doesn't move files around, as this would add another "single point of failure". The human doesn't have to keep track of the location of files - the database does this. Don't try hijacking unrelated threads. You're free to post this suggestion in the "feature requests" board, but it has been requested before and will get turned down. Locking.
