Title: Error Message
Post by: rapsball4 on June 01, 2006, 06:12:45 am
This is the error message I get when I try to go to my Photo Gallery.  It had been installed (1.4.2) through Fantastico, worked for a few days, then this happened.  I performed an update to 1.4.6 and its still there.  I'm not much of a coder, so I don't want to go through the code without some kind of guidance.

Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Access denied for user 'waltsbea_copp1'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

Check include/config.inc.php to see that the values are correct. If something happened without your knowledge, maybe your webhost changed something, so you'll have to contact them.

I just need to know how to generate the password hash that goes in the config.in.php file (I've already taken care of it on the db side). Is there a way to do that?

I'm not sure what you mean. There's no hashing.

this is not hashed password , this a simple string that fantastico create for password , if you missed that you can just create another user (it will be somthing like "waltsbea_blabla") and add that to your db and give that full permission , then edit your config.inc.php with that user
you will be fine ;)

ah. turns out something else must be messed up with my installation, as trying to run the install.php I just get a 500 error from the web server. I've grabbed a copy of 1.4.8, and that seems to be running ok.

well, I don't know what the original problem was, but I have a working installation now (by deleting the bad one and installing a fresh copy).
