Title: Themes by DaMysterious
Post by: DaMysterious on October 18, 2003, 01:15:49 am
My third ported theme for CPG is ready yet. Synthetic Blue is totally unmodded. All extra options as there are language- and theme choises are implemented in the html-file. Synthetic Blue should work with the most configurations and available Browsers (I hope  :) ).

Download Synthetic Blue for CPG v1.2.x HERE (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/download.php)
To view this theme go HERE (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=synthetic_blue)

Have fun... I take a break  :idea:.

Only 1 tiny problem, its not really a problem, just me being lazy....

If using anycontent.php to display languages and theme skins like I am I now have the choices for lang & themes down the bottom with my anycontent.php and along the side with your very good looking theme :)

liek i said im lazy...

thats all

I can't change it for you  :). So you have to edit template.html, search the block <!-- Themes begin --> and cut out the whole block til <!-- Themes end-->. And ready! As you could see there are many other blocks below. Be creative and cut out what is unnessesary for you.

Very nice theme; I've managed to integrate it into coppermine nicely (and yes, the menus are on the right hand side of the gallery block).
You can see it in the demo (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/demo/?theme=synthetic_blue) and download it from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/coppermine/theme_cpg1.2.0_synthetic_blue.zip?download , but I must make some things clear about this theme

  • Synthetic blue is not released under the GNU GPL terms - there's a readme attached to the package that explains copyright issues in detail: you are allowed to use it on your site as long as the copyright notices stay intact[/list:u]
:roll:  What next commercially designed themes for CPG, Well I would be happy if that did happen...

BUT as far as copyright notices are concerned GNU GPL has provisions for that - need not have a different license for it.

May be designers can consider Creative Commons Licenses for themes

I really like the lipstik theme - my favourite contribution of DaMysterious so far.
The themes have been added to our download section (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/download.php#themes120) and can be viewed "in action" on our demo (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/demo/) (notice the theme selection at the bottom of the demo page).

I think of that, with some ideas in mind. First I have to release another new theme the next days named Floral Brown (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=floral_brown). Thanks for the title master of themes, but I'm only master of myself.  8)

Have you considered writing a tutorial on creating themes - I would really like to see one from you because you seem to be doing the themes so fast and so well...

Even a small write up on the steps involved OR the flow of work will be great - If needed I can help and fill in gaps for you in the article/tutorial

I should think about that Tarique. If I found time (more themes are still wating to used under CPG) I'll should write down the different steps how to make/convert a new theme for Coppermine and how to manage style.css. But please, don't try to force me. Creating thems resides at the first place for me at the moment  (I'm totally freaked out 8)).

Ok! Ok!

Verry short:
Make a new dir under coppermine/themes eg. /subsilver
Create a new subdir /images under /subsilver
Copy all images from the original phpBB/templates/subsilver/images to coppermine/themes/subsilver/images

Copy from coppermine/themes/default all files except the image dir (styl.css, template.html, theme.php) into the new created /subsilver.

Further you need to edit template.html to suite your needs. All between  <HEAD> and </HEAD> must stay there delete the rest. Go to overall_header.tpl and copy the contend into template.html, except the header section. Go to overall_footer.tpl and place this contend at the end.

Replace all metatags from phpBB to point to the right imagepad under coppermine (else there are no graphics).

Place

{GAL_NAME} :: {GAL_DESCRIPTION}
{MAIN_MENU}
{ADMIN_MENU}
{GALLERY}

where do you like it (mostly the middle section).

Enough for now  :wink:. Have fun...

I think you're a great artist when it comes to theming - I'd like you to have more privileges on this board (I'll discuss this with the dev team).

Why should I? All themes released under GNU license (theme.php). Use the themes, play with them, modify or throw them away. I'ts Your choise. Ok, Ok. You'r right, I'll never become a rich man this way, but that's my choise  :wink:. If there is a special copyright notice on a adapted theme it is mentioned and everyone have to admire.

Hi GauGau,

Let me explain somthing GauGau. I use Coppermine after testing dozens other GNU-Gallerysoftware. One stuk on 50 albums, another on 10.000 pictures, the next slows down at 15.000 pictures. CPG fits my needs and I'm verry happy with Coppermine. As I wrote on the old forum I do contribute and share as thanks to the team. Nothing more. I don't whan't/search any title nor status. The only thing I like to be is a member of this community.

I noticed two minor cosmetic issues (which aren't bugs of any kind, but just a matter of taste):
- in "anime" theme, there's no space between the menu items in the admin menu. Proposed fix: change stylesheet - look for class "topnav"
- in "Floral Brown", there's a scroll bar when viewing the full-size pop-up (tested with IE6 on W2K and Opera 6.01). Proposed fix: look into margin/padding attributes

Of course such beauty has a price: those themes can only be recommended for broadband portals and such - the page load is huge...

Thanks for the hint I should take a look at it. This poup behave is also found in 'Fruity', 'Giallo' and 'Hardwired' on my machine. Is this a IIS problem or prorogramming fault of me? Other question, I like the popup's without any panels of IE6. How en where to change this behavior.
Title: Themes by DaMysterious
Post by: Joachim Müller on October 21, 2003, 02:43:07 am
the scrollbar issue isn't your fault - this comes by design: the pop-up is opened based on the dimensions of the full-size pic plus 16 pixels in width and height. If your stylesheet defines margin/padding values of the body that make the pic not fit in, the scrollbar is shown. To increase the space around the pic, edit displayimage.php and look for
Code: [Select]
       $winsizeX = $CURRENT_PIC_DATA['pwidth'] + 16;
        $winsizeY = $CURRENT_PIC_DATA['pheight'] + 16;
Change the value "16" to something bigger (you'll have to experiment a little).
You could also re-define the margin/padding attributes for the full-size pic:  edit displayimage and look for
Code: [Select]
</head>and add before it
Code: [Select]
<style type="text/css">
body {
margin:0px;
padding:0px;
     }
</style>

-----------------------------------

If you want to strip the pop-up of everything (scrollbar etc.), edit displayimage.php and search for
Code: [Select]
       $pic_html = "<a href=\"javascript:;\" onClick=\"MM_openBrWindow('displayimage.php?pid=$pid&fullsize=1','" . uniqid(rand()) . "','scrollbars=yes,toolbar=yes,status=yes,resizable=yes,width=$winsizeX,height=$winsizeY')\">";Change it to
Code: [Select]
       $pic_html = "<a href=\"javascript:;\" onClick=\"MM_openBrWindow('displayimage.php?pid=$pid&fullsize=1','" . uniqid(rand()) . "','scrollbars=no,toolbar=no,status=no,resizable=no,width=$winsizeX,height=$winsizeY')\">";, but keep in mind that if you have full-size pics that are bigger than your visitor's screen resolution they won't have a chance to see the whole full-size pic (because of missing scrollbars).

Hint:
For all my themes I did create a new class and add it to style.css to have more control over this feature.

Code: [Select]

.anycontend {
                                color : White;
                                font-size: 90%;
}

.anycontend a {
                                color : White;
                                font-size: 90%;
}

.anycontend a:hover {
                                color : White;
                                font-size: 90%;
                                text-decoration: overline;
}

Call the above with
Code: [Select]
class="anycontend"

Thanks.

Hey DaMysterious,
If you'd like to create a topic called "Themes for 1.2" or something along those lines, and just post replies everytime you update or create new ones, that'll be great.

We'll put it on Sticky for you, that way everyone can see your listing of themes and wont get lost down the track.

Great work, btw!

Preview Inkpot life (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=inkpot)
Download Inkpot (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89658) for CPG v1.2.x. Inkpot is LinkWare.

Preview Nature Beauty life (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=nature_beauty)
Download Nature Beauty (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89658) for CPG v1.2.x. Nature Beauty is LinkWare.

Preview OceanDreams life (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=oceandreams)
Download OceanDreams (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89658) for CPG v1.2.x. OceanDreams is LinkWare.

Preview WinterDreams life (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=winterdreams)
Download WinterDreams (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89658) for CPG v1.2.x. WinterDreams is LinkWare.

Further I have to write down a word of sadness. Please Gals & Guys don't cheat on linkware. This week I take a look into the forum of Zarron Media (AirHead & BoyZ best downloaded til now) and saw that there a Blacklist (http://www.zarron.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33) is handeled. Please leave the creditlinks untuched on all themes I deliver, there is spend a lot of sparetime to this free projects. As I do to.

Download Black Widdow (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89658) for CPG v1.2.x.

Preview Graphix life (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=graphix)

Done. Thanks fellows :D.

Nice themes (personally I think they risk to move the attention away from the pictures, but is just a personal opinion :wink: )

In the Nature Beauty theme can I suggest that you split  the top image in 3 columns? This would allow seemless merging with the left and right borders for every window width.

As you know discussing about taste gives no results :wink:. I checked Nature Beauty and you'r right. I saw this to late and wil take an eye on this theme as there is time. At this moment I won't adapt any new themes for CPG as I'm working on my new project (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=_tableless) that asks my full attention and programming knowledge. I think that some help is needed at later time if I stuk on some items while rewriting themes.php to suite the needs.

Thank you GauGau. I mean you feel it to, 'as usual' is boring. You may rest now :wink:. No new adaptions are planned for the near future. Within the next days/weeks I wil try to fit the four identical 'digital' themes together and make them switchable using a CSS selector. Further I'm working simultaniously on my new project (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php?theme=_tableless), as I wrote to eolica. I hope to create a combination of css-switchable and tabelless theme for CPG (see project). We will see...

hehe, DaMysterious, I didn't mean any offense: I was just referring to your high-quality work leading to an instant upload to our demo page, because your contributions always mean a benefit for us as well. I'm always glad to add your themes, don't get me wrong!
I have integrated your new themes into the download section (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89658&release_id=192575) as well and I'm really looking forward to the tableless theme.

I know you're a modest guy (you shyed away from becoming the "official" theme guy once, so I won't repeat this :wink: ); please feel free to ask if there's anything we (the dev team) can do to help you with the tableless project. There's a lot of table-related stuff hardcoded into the core code of coppermine, maybe you have some "best practise" advises for future coding standards for us.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Ok! Digital Compare is ready and I have time to went to the 'TableLess' theme. But before I have a questions first:

Is it possible to create a tableless theme messing with theme.php only? I don't want to touch other files of CPG as there could rise an incompatibility to the standard distribution. TableLess must be an additional theme distribution for CPG like the standard- or my themes.
Title: Themes by DaMysterious
Post by: Joachim Müller on November 12, 2003, 08:36:27 am
I'm afraid: no. There's table-related code all over coppermine.
rbl has managed to create a tableless coppermine (see http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=875 ) but only by modifying a lot of files.
Allowing the usage of tableless themes to become "mainstream" will require vast changes in coppermine core code. :cry:

Title: CSS change
Post by: DaMysterious on November 23, 2003, 02:52:55 am
I messed around a bit with style.css. There was no indication wich pictures was viewed or not, so I changed following in style.css.

Search for

Code: [Select]

a:hover {
        color: #0033CC;
        text-decoration: underline;
}

and place the code below under it.

Code: [Select]

a:visited .image, a:visited .image1 {
        border-bottom: 2px solid #FF8C00;
        border-left: 0px solid #FF8C00;
        border-right: 2px solid #FF8C00;
        border-top: 0px solid #FF8C00;
        filter: Blur(Add=0, Strength=2);
}

a:hover .image, a:hover .image1 {
        border-bottom: #FFFFFF 1px solid;
        border-left: #FFFFFF 1px solid;
        border-right: #FFFFFF 1px solid;
        border-top: #FFFFFF 1px solid;
        filter: Blur(Add=0, Direction=135, Strength=3);
        moz-opacity: 0.5;
}

From now on every viewed/visitet picture is with colored border and blured. You can change the whole thing to you own taste.  :wink: LifeView (http://damysterious.xs4all.nl/gallery/index.php)

Hello.

Wow some awesome work here. It is very pleasing to the eye to visit boards and gallerys like these.

As i was trolling around looking at the demos.

I came across sythetic blue. The theme looks great to me. I have a little problem though, can someone help?

I very new to this so please if you choose to help be very explicit for me.

Ok now i go to download this that is fine i go to from what i gather. Unzip this into the theme directory. At this point i notice that there are some extra folders in there along with the files for synthetic blue out in the root theme directory. Not in a theme directoy of its own.

It has a read me file that says to unzip to the templete directory. Do you mean or does it mean to unzip like i did into the theme directory?

After that it says to then go to the control panel. Again does this mean to the configuration settings for the gallery or does it mean to the system control panel?

If both answers are to the theme directory and the configuration settings for the directory. Then i can understand that and have done that.

Now if that is correct then i go to use the theme sythetic blue but there is no theme listed as sythetic blue there.

So at this point i go and create a folder for sythetic blue called XXXXX or what ever. So now back to configuration settings now i find this folder in the theme options. I then choose it for my theme.

Now if all that is correct im assuming i should have a working sythetic blue theme, but what i wind up with is now lag viewing the pages in the gallery and no theme just some html content and the basic pictures no theme what so ever just a pure white background.

Ok now can you help me in figureing out where i went wrong?

I sure hope i gave you enough information to work on here. As far as i remember that is the exact sequence of what i did and understood.

Ok thanks for looking and or helping.
Ill check back later for info if any arises.

and again AWESOME WORK!!!!

how to get a theme working
You should have a folder somewhere on your hard drive that looks like this:
Code: [Select]
+---name_of_the_theme_you_downloaded
      |
      +--images
      |
      +--style.css
      |
      +--template.html
      |
      +--theme.php
Some themes (like "Synthetic blue") come with extra folders in them. You'll need to put them somewhere else.

Hiya and thank you for your reply
unfortunatly ive done what the readme file actually asks of me,
and even figured out that it is supposed to be in its own folder.
the problem is the readme file refers to things that are not in
coppermine from what i can see. it refers to a template direcrotry and a control panel. I was fairly sure that the other folders it has are supposed to go some other place but you see thats my problem exactly where do they go with out messing up the db or the program itself.
the sythetic blue zip does not decompress into its own folder rather it decompresses into the root folder you are decompressing too

so thats how i figured out that some of the files needed to go into a folder i created but what to do with the rest that is the question.

So even though it looks pretty sweet its hard to take a chance any further trying to get it to work with out detailed instructions on exactly whatt one is supposed to do with the extra files.

ive messed around with it a little every time i do it makes the server and db act a bit funny so really is not worth the effort to go any further with it.

Looks sweet but oh well i guess not for me or others who do not know exactly what to do with instructions that are clearly marked for another program or incorrect affiliation statments.

Thanks again for your attempt to help.

synthetic blue is a user contribution that is based on someone else's code - the disclaimer says the notes must remain intact, that's what DaMysterious did - he left them intact. The stuff from the readme simply doesn't apply to coppermine, but can't be removed.
Maybe you should have a look at some other theme, most of them are less complicated to get them working (and they load much faster - synthetic blue is overkill unless your users aren't on broadband connection).

Post by: easydoesit on March 06, 2004, 02:35:19 am
I just wanted to say that after I downloaded the caliSkinV6 theme and unzipped the files Windows XP always gets an explorer.exe error when I open up the folder or when the thumbnails try to load in Windows XP.  It then sends the error report.

I'm using CPG 1.2.1 and have been trying to design my own theme but to no avail I get frustrated because it's not graphically sound like I want it.  Going to try hardwired_tweak.  I wonder if I'm not suppose to use this theme since it's for an older version but there are only 3 themes available for my CPG version.

No, I'm telling you that you replied to a thread that deals with cpg1.2.x only, which is only there for reference, but not subject to discussion. Issues related to cpg1.4.x shouldn't be posted in a thread that deals with cpg1.2.x
Locking this one now.
