SMF template session check failure on logout

I used to have this problem before upgrading and thought it was just a fluke that all the sudden started happening.  I upgraded to the latest Coppermine version and also updated my forums from SE to SMF.  Everything works fine and I no longer have the logout problem... with one exception.  I've come to find out in testing that this only happens with certain templates.  More particularly, the SMF template of CPG that I want to use.  How come this problem is specific to templates?  How can I adjust the SMF CPG template to allow users to logout correctly?

please provide a link and test account so we can check this. I've never heard of a theme being responsible for session issues... Please understand that the SMF theme is a user contribution, we can not fully support it.
