imagemagick installation with SSH

Hi,
I have access to my server with SSH/Telnet.

I need the instructions to install imagemagick, but the information is hard to find.
Unix-based commands are unknown to me.

Someone please help! Thanks in advance.

A search on Google of "install imagemagick" shows many sites with information about how to install ImageMagick.  We can't give you any specifics because you didn't mention what OS your server runs, if you have root access, etc.

The easiest way is to ask your host to install it for you.  Most hosts will oblige.

using Linux with Apache 1.3.31 (Unix)

I downloaded the .tar for ImageMagick, and when I say ./configure, it gives me this error:
error: C++ preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check

what is that? It seems like i need the C++ compiler, but why and where/how can I install that?

Please let me know.
