Specific home page
« on: July 17, 2004, 10:06:57 pm »

Hi, I'm trying CPG and it's a very nice software. My problem is to open he web site on a welcome page like "edito" rather than the gallery. How can I simply do this ?
thanks

Sorry, but cpg is standalone on my easyphp. I'll try to explain :
When I start cpg, the first page is directly on gallery. I would like to have a welcome page in place of gallery, and when I click on "Albums" go to gallery.
I use "Rainy day" or "Fruity" templates.
I hope this will be a betterexplain.
Thanks

well, then let your link "gallery" point to another page your choose, and send the visitors from there to your coppermine page. I still don't understand your request, please post a link. Is your question "how do I create another page that comes in the same layout as Coppermine"? If this is the case, you might want to take a look at http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=3141.0

yes you've well understood. My purpose is to have a welcome page in the same layout as coppermine. Just a page on which I can explain something.
I don't want to have more, so a cms is not what I want. I will look at miniCMS (if I find it, because for the moment all download  links are broken).
When I looked at coppermine documentation I found information about configuration of the display on first page. My question was, "is it possible to do something simple, to have just a page when opening coppermine and not the gallery ?"
Thanks

Right, I find a link to a zip file with minicms 1.2 (may 2004). I've installed it and cpg 1.3.1, and I think that this concept can answer to my needs. But, I can't understand how to have a new bloc displaying in cpg.
When I read the posts, someone speak about an info.php which is not in the zip file, and about "a category id at the top of the cms_admin new/edit entry page", I've not.
If I try to use cms.php as an info.php, I've errors.
So can explain to me :
* what is the content of info.php
* what and where is the category id in cms admin
* how to declare the new block in cpg 1.3.1 (purharps are you speaking about the "The content of the main page" field ?)

Thanks for all

I think you're mixing things up a bit. Let's take another approach: post a link to your page, so we can take a look.

The web site is standalone on my laptop with easyphp just to test. You can't connect to it.
But I think that I've understood. There is two minicms. The first one that call cms.php with an <a> link in the menu and "extended-cms" with info.php. I tried both and have problems with extended-cms and some errors. So I will use the first which seems to be stable.
I've the answer to my needs with this one and "anycontent.php" that I discovered reading the thread and with which I can do my "welcome page".
I'll use cms.php to add a "news" and "about" items in the menu. I'll try to integrate menu items in a multi-language translation.
Thanks
