upload email mod?

Is there any kind of mod or hack known that send an email to registered users when a file/files are uploaded to let them know?

There's no such mod, but there's an admin massmail mod that has been written for cpg1.2.1 and will probably need some tweaks.
Such a feature won't make it into coppermine standalone core code, as it would mean turning coppermine into a spam-machine, so if you need a mod that will do exactly this, you will have to code it... You're welcome to post your hack though, shouldn't be difficult.
