Installing Steps For Godaddy?
« on: January 21, 2010, 08:54:23 am »

Hey I am learning how to install coppermine and wordpress on my surver with godaddy. I added the info to config.inc, went to my link.com/cpg14x and got nothing. Then I wondered if I should change the name to gallery. Did that and got the same thing. Nothing. It's being a pain in the rear so if someone can tell me what to do from here that would be great.

We don't know and don't care how to install coppermine on a particular webhost's server if you refer to so-called auto-installers. We're not fond of those auto-installers and will definitely not support them in any way (if you're curious why we're not fond of them, read up http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/auto-installers.htm). The only supported method to install coppermine is the one we describe in our documentation that comes with coppermine and that is available online as well (link "Documentation" at the top of this screen).
So if you want help with using the auto-installer provided by your webhost, ask your webhost instead of us. If you want to get supported later with your coppermine-driven gallery, read our documentation first. If that leaves open questions, post your actual question, doing exactly as suggested per board rules (you agreed to respect board rules when you signed up, but failed to do so in your posting). Don't expect to be spoon-fed: we expect you to do your homework first before being allowed to post questions. This is a support board, but not an excuse for laziness.

contact godaddy and make sure you are on a linux server...their older ones don't like some of the newer software

Coppermine runs fine on older webservers as well. I don't think that this is a matter of hardware, distribution or webserver version age.

ok  just thought to toss that out since someone else at another fourm was having issues with godaddy servers and they had to be moved to a linux server.

You have great software I just love it.

I am not trying to auto install it. I followed how to do it on here. http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,58121.0.html. Just doesn't seem to be working.

As has been kindly pointed out by Joachim you still have not posted a link to your site. If you are following out instructions why are you fiddling with config.inc.php, the installer does that for you.

If you want support then please do as suggested and post a link and a valid bug report. Simply saying "it doesn't work" isn't giving us much to go on.

You still haven't done as suggested:
  • You haven't posted a link to your gallery
  • You haven't resolved your thread properly
  • You haven't posted what you actually did to solve your issues for the benefit of others with similar issues.

You have behaved in a selfish way and haven't bothered to read what you have been told to read. Not a clever move if you should have issues in the future and want support then...
