Restricted User Version
« on: May 17, 2004, 09:29:18 am »

Hi, I have just installed coppermine gallery to check if it fits my intention.

Is it possible to make a restricted display for the user mode? Users should only see the album list and (after clicking) the albums and pictures. No menu and no "random pics" and "latest additions". No registration will be possible, and only the admin should have access to the menu.

Do you have any ideas if this is possible and how to manage?

This is something similar to what i'm working on. So far, this is what i have:

In the template, i'm only showing basic usermenu and admin menu (hidden if admin isn't logged in)

In the config, just show breadcrumb, catlist, alblist and topn (for your needs, probably remove topn)

Apply the breadcrumb mod to remove the top level  [ http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=6192.0 ]

For the user, the links they have just point them to specific categories, ie, index.php?cat=X

I'm looking for a better way, if i find it, i'll post it here!

You can hide any of the menu links by commenting them out in theme.php.  Do not remove completely.

You should not comment out the 'enter_admin_mode' or 'leave_admin_mode', or 'upload', as you may want these yourself, and only those logged on can see them.

If you comment out the login link, and your cookie expires, you will need to browse direct to login.php, to log in again.

Set your groups settings so 'anonymous' cannot upload, etc.
Set your config to allow new registrations to NO.

Perfect! Thanx a lot. It works great!

I found most of the others restrictions I had in mind and changed the code or the language file. But there are still some more - as I hope - simple changes to do. Would be nice if you may help me.

- I commented the rating and comment parts in theme.php out, but it's still in the code. Is it possible to deaktivate it by admin settings?
- In the album list I'd like to delete that album_on_page line ("2 albums on 1 page(s)") or have the text in the center of the line.
- In the thumbnail view I'd like to delete the sorting block ("Title / File name / Date") and the number of views under each thumbnail.
- In the picture view I'd like to delete the picture information block ("File name / album name / ...") or at least delete the URL, Views and Add to fav lines.

I hope these changes aren't too difficult and done with deleting a few lines in the php code. But which files and which parts do I have to edit?
