How to determine GD or IM
« on: May 18, 2004, 06:54:17 pm »

I have installed Coppermine with GD and not ImageMagick because I dould not get the path to work.  I had read in these forums that this was okay to do.  After installation I went to the Config page and change to IM and entered the path in and saved.  The thubmnails and everything still worked.  So out of curiosity I deleted the path in the Config page and the thumbnails still worked.  So now I am wondering if CM is using IM or GD.

Is there a way to determine this.  BTW, I am using a webhost, Apache.

Thanks!

Thanks GauGau.  That told me what version of GD I had and if things were enabled.  What I am looking for is a way to see if Coppermine is using GD or IM.  I want to use IM.  I changed it on the Config page, but when I leave the path empty, it still works and I assume it should have given me an error saying that it couldn't find IM.

OK, I see. The setting in coppermine config "Method for resizing images" is the one that actually says what method is being used. You have to understand that immediately after changing the config value nothing will happen, but only if you actually upload a pic, so coppermine has to do some resizing. It's even possible that IM will work if you have nothing in the field "Path to ImageMagick 'convert' utility (example /usr/bin/X11/)" (if your server is set up like this).
