[Invalid]: Coppermine database import timeout
« on: November 08, 2009, 08:49:30 am »

I'm afraid my previous post was morphing since I figured to just re-install copy all the files and then update the database to move to another sever/host. Well, I cannot update the database so I'm really stuck. I have a request into my new host so maybe it's on their end. But in the meantime it can't hurt to ask...

I searched and could not find a solution so hopefully someone can help. The non zipped file is almost 5MB so I zipped it and gzipped it but I get the same error:
Code: [Select]
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 300 seconds exceeded in /usr/local/cpanel/base/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/libraries/string_mb.lib.php on line 47

Maybe there's a way to copy parts? Maybe I should upgrade the 1.4.25 to 1.5? Does that have a back up feature?

Thanks for your time and any help you can offer.

I had the same trouble and what I had to do was contact the host to install the database for me. I uploaded it where they could grab it and they did it...for the one that got moved.

otherwise you can copy/paste it in parts I have done that before also...it is a pain to do cause I made 3 documents out of the main one to upload sections at a time.

it is alimit of mysql to only do 2mb

Then use mysqldumper or similar. Not related to coppermine at all.

Thanks for chiming in! I tried copying rows (1,000 at a time out of 28,800) and they still failed. Someone that helped me move this dB before said that the host probably needs to set the php maximum execution time because that is making it timeout.
And that makes sense since you say 2MB is MySql limit and these files are: 4MB raw .sql, 475kb for zip, 389kb for qzip and 300kb for 1,000 row csv.

I ended up giving the file to the host and they importerd it for me. Still waiting for the final 3,000 files to upload and then see if it works. The database has a new name and user at the new host (they put the username_ in front of everything) so that will be my next hurdle.

I've been trying to convince my client to cut this thing down to a more manageable size but they are reluctant - it's images of high and middle school dances going back about 5 years. I was thinking that some kind of archiving for images 2 years or older and then possibly charge a nominal fee to view it...

good luck but if I had kids still in school and they tried to charge me---no matter how nominal, I would not pay....there is food and bills that would come first.
