I read that file and posted this (I hope it's okay that way):

troubleshooting protocol

1.Enable debug mode for everyone DONE

2.Set the upload form configuration for all groups to "Single file uploads only"

   1. set File upload boxes to "1" (1)
   2. set URI upload boxes to "0" (2)
   3. set No. of boxes to "fixed" (3)  DONE

3.post a link to your site and a test user account (the test user mustn't be in the admin group!)

(i thought at first the test user had to be admin, thats why I hesitated to give the info at first)

4. you should disable admin approval for the group the test user is in

i'm not 100% sure what that means but i dont think i have that on.

5. you should get a more detailed error message that tells you what exactly goes wrong with your uploads.

detailed error message I got: the album doesn't exist or you're not allowed to upload file into this album

coppermine version: newest

once more is totally, utterly silly. There is a reason why releases have numbers. The word "newest" doesn't mean anything - it could mean "I have the most recent stable release". It could mean as well "I have the most recent subversion checkout" or "I'm a moron and consider an outdated version to be the most recent one". You have cpg1.4.23 on http://rani.nocturn-glare.net/gallery/, while the most recent stable release currently is cpg1.4.24, so you obviously fall into the later category of being a moron: no, you're not using the most recent stable release, but an outdated version. This is a nice example of your attitude: it stinks.
I don't want to hear another another apology from you - that's lame. Your next posting on this board should be straightforward and contain all needed information. If it doesn't, you can consider yourself to be gone. This is the last warning.

How hard can it be to go to the "Admin Tools page", choose "Check versions" and copy/paste the info.
Give us the info we ask for.
Then you have to search this forum for answers - the subject "Unable to upload files" is maybe the most asked question regarding CPG.
THEN if you don't find any solution to your problem, you can ask for support.

rani... you have to do your homework and READ the documentation (as we have done before you).

Okay, you must upgrade to the lates version of Coppermine 1.4.24 before you get any more support from me.
Read the documentation on how to do that.
