After installing coppermine on my server I am trying to run the install script now Im stuck I get the error message cant connect mysql the error message is as follows

Could not create a mySQL connection, please check the SQL values entered
MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (46)


I feel its something in the configinc.php but I dont know what to change or how to can anyone give some insight as to what I should do.

Many thanks for your help am now through the install and am ready to configure the gallery  instead of local host I just put mysql and the database name correctly
