mySQL Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax
« on: September 05, 2008, 07:20:14 pm »

Hi,
I didn't want to post but I give up. I try all I could, I installed 3 different version of AppservNetwork in my windows xp and all of them shows the same error. I cleaned my cache, I restart the system everytime I should. I search in the forum but the only thing I found it's something related to 1.3 cpg so it doesn't apply to my problem.

I try to install cpg and this error shows up:

"mySQL Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 on query"

I have installed right now:

AppServ 2.5.9

    * Apache 2.2.4
    * PHP 5.2.3
    * MySQL 5.0.45
    * phpMyAdmin-2.10.2

P.S: It's not the first time I installed a localhost and, till the last week I was working on Vista and was great.

Any suggestion? Please...  :-[

That's the weird part.. The error that appear it's the one as exaclty I'm quoting.. As soon I get my home, I will try again and I'll take an capture to attach it. But nothing appears between those "".  :(

Below the error shows a lot of litle rhombus and then the sql order from coppermine to create the table structure.

Any suggestion to handle this problem with any other clues?  ::)

Here it's is the image, attached.

I also check the FAQ in the Appserv package. I also read a post in the forum with a link to 'all' the error from SQL, except mine.  :P

Now what?  :'(

Looks to me as if the package has been corrupted. Re-download a fresh package and overwrite the files on the server with it.

I re-downloaded all versions and try to install one that works. Well, none of them did. I restart my pc everytime I install or unistall something. I try several things. But, I can't make it work. The thing is that I have Joomla and others (not open source) softwares running without any problem on all of the version of apache I installed. Coppermine do have a problem but I really don't know how to solve. It's driving me crazy.   :o

So? What to do next? any sugestion?

Check manually that sql/schema.sql and sql/basic.sql are not corrupted.

Wow! Thank you Joachim Müller for guide me and thank you very much to Nibbler to discover what was my problem.

I was looking for in the wrong place. After Nibbler advice I check those files and discovered something quite weird. Inside ‘sql’ folder the files 'basic', 'schema' and 'update' have between 12 kb and 18 kb, but they were empty.

I replaced all files from a fresh copy of cpg and work just great!

Thank you very much!  ;D
