coppermind phpbb2 integration?

ok, I have installed phpbb2 and coppermine but now I want to integrate them so that my users only need to sign in once.
I tried the way thats in the manual but that didn't work.  Everytime I would try to login, it would just refresh the login page and I wouldn't be logged in.  Is there a better tutorial on how to integrate them or is there any way to do it once they're already up and running so that I don't have to lose all my data?
I'm going psycho here!  help!
