how do i add an extra section (table), for adverts just above the coppermine copyright ?

You can either add the Adverts code given to you by the provider of the Adverts into your template.html or you can use anycontent.php

If you add the ads to your template.html you will see them on every page, if you choose to add them to anycontent.php they will only show on the main page

I'd go for the template.html option so the ads show on every page. Depending on what theme your using I'd place the Ads code just above the {VANITY} tag.
