General MySQL install question
« on: May 24, 2008, 12:26:22 am »

I am about to install Coppermine Galley on a website. The website already runs phpBB3 with a MySQL database. Nor being that experienced with MySQL is it ok to install the Coppermine fields in the same database as phpBB3? Or should I request a seperate database from my host? If I were to have both sets of fields in the same database would it impact performance or just not work at all?

I appreciate your input and hopefully I won't make a mistake.

Ciao,
Stan

Whatever you prefer

Both apps can co-exist in one database, as they will reside different table prefixes. The performance impact will depend on your server setup, so wel can't actually advice. Set it up as you wish, you can change this later if you want.
