[Closed]: Help with copyright
« on: April 27, 2008, 01:13:26 pm »

Hello.

I am new to this, and am thinking of starting my own website.  :)

I wanted to know if I am allowed to use these images?

Also do I need to add some sort of watermark?

Or would I be breaching the copyright by using the images in one of coppermins's galleries?  ???

Thanks, just want to be 100% certain, before I do anything.  :)

Claudia.

Thanks for the reply.

I was wondering if I am allowed to use the images in a 'coppermine' gallery?

Or if it would not be legal as I did not actually take any of these images myself?

Thanks again.

Coppermine is only the means by which you make the images avaible to the public. If you want to know if you are allowed to display certain pictures you contact whomever made them and ask their permission. This is not coppermine related imho.

Actually, you should read the sections "About Coppermine Licensing" and "Dealing With Photo Gallery Abuse" on the about-page. Coppermine is just a tool. It's up to the webmaster who is using that tool what content (i.e. pics) he's storing/displaying using coppermine. We can't tell you about the license of pics stored using a coppermine.
Your question is somewhat similar to the question "am I allowed to drive at 100 miles per hour on a street made out of concrete". You can't ask this question on the support board of the company where the concrete comes from. You'll have to ask local authorities how fast you can go on that street. You're simply addressing the wrong people here.
