Upgraded Coppermine to 1.4.18 without resolving the problem. Also tried different versions of delete.php.

I had same error when I tried to delete a file, sort photos or create an album, etc. Likewise, I installed a freshly downloaded delete.php without success. Eventually, after DELETING delete.php in both root and public_html, I uploaded again using Filezilla, and checked in Filezilla that the new delete.php had uploaded into root and into public_html. After running update.php, it works! Good luck!

You should only have one copy of that file, not two of them!
