I have tried to look in this forum, but without luck.

Is there a way to fetch images only in lanscape or portrait orientation?

Are you trying to make all of the images the same width and height? If so you can utilize the $options array to do this however the images may get distorted if the height and width are forced.

I would recommend you try the modpack by Stramm this saved me loads of headaches:

There is functionality in there to force the thumbs to be cropped and centered (using max aspect of width and height) which is what I think you are looking for.
