is  there a way for copermine to generate a slideshow using the images in my coppermine gallery so i can put on an independent page?

Yes. This is called "content syndication". There's an entire sub-board dedicated to mods that can display content taken from coppermine on non-coppermine-driven pages. We recommend using cpmFetch.
