New to Bridging
« on: January 15, 2008, 08:33:28 pm »

I've just been given this site as a gift to help keep my family connected to my daughter since we live far away!  I'm pretty new to things like bridging so please bear with me.  I *think* my site is bridged, but I'm not actually sure what to do with it once it is bridged- should I be able to see something special on my site?  Should the albums be there to view right on the main site or have I not bridged it properly? Please don't flame me, I'm doing my best here!  ;)

I have the following issue when trying to bridge coppermine and b2evolution:

Coppermine install: http://album.avaridodd.com
Forum install: http://www.avaridodd.com
Coppermine version: cpg1.4.2
Forum version: b2evolution.net
Test user account: ?

BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL:  http://www.avaridodd.com/bridge
Relative path to your BBS's config file:  ../
Use post-based groups?:  0
Cookie name/preifx (if applicable)

sorry- that's all I understand- if someone could tell for sure if I'm bridged and then give me a little hint of what that means- that would be awesome!

ok- assuming it isn't bridged because it says

"not in coppermine"

when I go to

http://avaridodd.com/album/bridge/b2evolution.inc.php

So I went back in and logged in to admin to look at the bridge settings.  When I tried to log in, it disabled the bridge settings- I go back in to the bridge manager, click on enable, and then the button changes from bridge wizard to finish.

Above that it says
Relative path to your BBS's config file:      ../
Use post based groups                               1

after I click the finish button, the button changes from "finish" to "start bridging wizard"
if I click on start bridging wizard, it asks me to login again, then when I click it disables the BBS bridging

I'm going in circles- what am I missing!  thanks

not going in circles anymore, but I did run through the bridge wizard and it still gives me the "not in coppermine" message when I type in avaridodd.com/album/bridge

Bridging means user accounts are shared - people won't need to sign up for and maintain 2 separate accounts. You won't see anything special when you bridge, it's not a visual connection just a logical one. The redirect when you login at Coppermine means you are bridged. A test account is where you create an account for us to use for testing and post the details. Ignore the message at b2evolution.inc.php, that is not what it means. Read the docs and search the board for more info about bridging. Also I would recommend moving the gallery to a subdirectory instead of a subdomain as this can complicate bridging.
