Please move to appropriate section ...
« on: November 20, 2007, 03:39:02 pm »

Hi at the risk of posting in the wrong place, I apologize in advance. I had no other place that would allow me aside from photography tips and tricks.
I see others have had to do the same thing due to abuse of the board.

OK one quick question.

1) I have version 1.2 installed at the moment and am going to upgrade to the latest version. I am having problems with spammers joining my gallery.
My gallery is NOT integrated with my board because there is no integration available for phpbb3 yet. So I have my gallery installed on my server and linked in my forum for MEMBER view only. Apparently it's easy to figure out /gallery in any url.

Will the new version help with security on this like a captcha or anything of the like until integration for phpbb3 is available?

Hi at the risk of posting in the wrong place, I apologize in advance.
The proper place to post would have been the board "cpg1.4.x upgrading" (where your thread got moved to, as it has originally been posted in the feature requests board).
I had no other place that would allow me aside from photography tips and tricks.
That's nonsense.

I see others have had to do the same thing due to abuse of the board.
No: others did a similar thing because they didn't bother to get familiar with the board. Just because others made a mistake doesn't mean that you should do so as well. You should have looked harder, especially when realizing that your posting in the wrong section.

Use a better subject next time you start a thread!

I have version 1.2 installed at the moment and am going to upgrade to the latest version.
Do so now. One step at a time!
I am having problems with spammers joining my gallery.
Then search the board for "comment spam" and you will find many threads dealing with this question. Those threads list the potential cures as well, which basically are:
  • Don't allow anonymous comments
  • Use the captcha plugin
  • Apply the captcha mod
  • Apply the Akismet mod

Will the new version help with security on this like a captcha or anything of the like until integration for phpbb3 is available?
So you already knew the keyword "captcha", ,yet you failed to search the board for this search term? Come on... ::)

Wow, didn't know that you're a mind reader! And since you're basically calling me a liar by determining that I didn't do all you said, why did you even bother to answer me?

You went through allot of trouble to 'tell me off', make snide comments, and generally be rude and unhelpful.

I worded my question so you could simply answer yes or no but I guess there is no fun in that, was there?

I didn't post in the section you said because I COULD NOT. duh. maybe check your permissions as a non moderator? We ALL make mistakes. If you tell me I have the ability now, you should rest assured that yesterday when I joined I DID NOT.

Being rude gets you nowhere. If you are running a support board then you should not find ways to get out of answering a question with rude remarks and non helpful comments.
I'm sorry you had people on here before me posting and abusing but that gives you no right to call me a liar and abuse ME in return.

If I ran all three of my boards like you run this one I'd have no members. I will definately be sure to tell anyone from now on that getting help here has a pricetag of verbal abuse.

The only pricetag is following the rules. Closing thread.
