getting images from my gallery into another aprt of my site

I have started using coppermine to a very pleasing use. But I want to extend part of it to my sites index page.

3 of the galleries have links from my index page. What I would like to know is can i put some code into my index page that will put the most recent image  thumbnail link on this page and make it link to the gallery in question! Hope some body can help.

By the way I am ok with html but very new to this php stuff!!!!

It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here
