Database Maintainence

Is there any recommended maintenance of the database other than that pointed out in the documentation?

If you have enabled detailed logging and stats, you should review and empty the log tables from time to time. If you don't need detailed stats, keep them off in the first place.
Of course you should do frequent backups.
Apart from that, there is no special maintenance drill.
