Coppermine critical error:

I installed it via cpannel like I have done my other installs but this timeI get the above error. How do I correct this?

Install as described in the documentation. We can't help you otherwise.

has it suddenly changed since the last time I installed it? I mean I use Fantastico which has worked every other time.

Will do a manual install then.

i think its more of a server/database issue than install issue

So I tried manually installing it and after a few attempts I got all files uploaded.

Still have the same problem, when I add the MySQL config details I get the error:

Then ask your webhost for support. This is nothing we could possibly help you with.
