Hello - This issue have happened to me before..

When I have installed Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.4.12 (stable) on my webserver , it seems to work.
BUT when I try to password protect an album it kind of dont work.

I make a category named secret and an album named secrets
I upload a picture into secrets, and in admin mode I go to the albumlist and click properties on the secrets album.

So far so good , but when I set a password and a password hint , and update album, nothing noticable happens.
I can logout and view the album as a guest no problem , why doesnt the password prompt me ?

I have been reading a bit here and there , but no luck , it is a pain in my behind!
To be more specific I attached the :

Hope I didnt miss image-linking in the rules when registering - and that someone can help me out here!

I don't see any album named secrets, just Horticulture. Note that the password does not apply to admins and logging out does not clear your authentication for the album.

My bad, what I ment was :

I make a category named secret and an album named horticulture
I upload a picture into horticulture, and in admin mode I go to the albumlist and click properties on the horticulture album.

Even if I set a password the guests can acces the horticulture album regardless of password!

I tried opening the gallery in another browser and it didnt help.

Post a full screenshot of the album properties screen of the horticulture album, not just part of it. Attach it to your posting (I modified your above posting as well, changing hotlinked images to attachments).

no plugins as far as I know - looked in the folders - could not see any plugins in gui..

Really annoys me - have to work out!

config => Files and thumbnails advanced settings => Albums can be private => Yes
