saving of the pics
« on: July 08, 2007, 12:14:30 am »

Hi,

I don't have Coppermine, but I'm very interested in it. What about the pics? Can I fill albums with pics which were already uploaded on my webspace? So, do Coppermine only save the path of the pic in de db? And can I fill the album (on one webspace with coppermine) with pics which were saved on another webspace without coppermine? What about the keywords? Do Coppermine save the keywords in the db-tables or do it append the keywords to the pics?

Can someone say how many webspace I need for an album of 100 pics in coppermine?

Thanks for informations!

Greetings!

Not the regular behaviour, but you can accomplish this by either changing the folder where coppermine stores the pics in coppermine's config or by creating a symlink (or have one created by your webhost) if you're hosted on Linux-powered systems.

So, do Coppermine only save the path of the pic in de db?
Yes and no: coppermine stores the relative path to the pics in relation to the albums folder (the folder that you choose in config).

And can I fill the album (on one webspace with coppermine) with pics which were saved on another webspace without coppermine?
No: coppermine doesn't support remote storage.

What about the keywords? Do Coppermine save the keywords in the db-tables or do it append the keywords to the pics?
Keywords are being saved in the database.pic

Can someone say how many webspace I need for an album of 100 pics in coppermine?
Depends on the size of your pics, you can't give a general advice. Depends on Coppermine's config as well (size of intermediate images and thumbnails).
