Move Category List to Left Side on All Screens

I would like to have the category list shown on the left side, with no category list on the main (center box?) screen. Some preliminary "digging" into the source code hasn't found the proper code blocks yet.

Hoping for a nudge in the right direction (or, better yet, complete instuctions!<g>).

It's very hard to separate the category list from the actual content. Has been requested in the past, with no satisfying reply. Reason: the entire core code of Coppermine would have to be changed.
When asking for theme support, it's always mandatory to post a link to your gallery for a start...
