Smf and Coppermine - Non standard groups?
« on: June 12, 2007, 01:18:08 pm »

Hi,

we have a forum for a car club (recently moved from pbpBB2 to SMF) and we wanted to add a photo gallery. We chose Coppermine, transfered every single photo and album manually via SQL queries and used the bridge manager for the users/groups, but here is the problem: We have non-standard groups and names (ie "MX-5 Club Member") and want something like the following:

1) Guests - No upload
2) Plain registered forum members - No upload
3) Club members (registered in the "MCOG Club Member" group) - Upload
4) Moderators - Upload and administrate the gallery
5) Club "administration board" (registered in the "MCOG DS" group)  - Upload
6) Club "special members" (ie registered in whatever "blah blah" group) - Upload

Currently, no one except the Administrators and the plain registered forum members can upload files. If I go in the group manager (groupmgr.php), all I see are the Administrators, Registered, Guests and Banned groups. The groups from the SMF database are NOT there. Users are recognized OK (everyone can login), and the user list (usermgr.php) redirects me to the SMF user list. How can I get Coppermine to recognise my non-standard groups and let met assign special privileges to each one? Thanks,

Jim

Go to Coppermine's groups control panel to trigger a re-sync. Assign upload permission sthere as well.

I went to the group control panel (http://www.mx5.gr/gallery/bridgemgr.php) but it doesn't fetch the SMF groups. I hit refresh several times just in case that it does the resynce then, still no go. I went to the bridge manager and re-applied the bridign type/settings, no luck. Anything left? Thanks,

Jim

The group control panel is groupmgr.php. Are you sure you enabled the 'post based groups' option?

Sorry, I meant http://www.mx5.gr/gallery/groupmgr.php. I'm pretty sure I enabled the 'post based groups' option, here is a pic from the bridge manager:

and one from phpMyAdmin:

Anything? Should I backup my tables (pictures, albums etc) and try a fresh install?
