Config not updated
« on: May 31, 2007, 02:38:45 pm »

I have installed coppermine and everything seems to work perfectly, except the admin config settings can't be saved. After clicking on save configuration, nothing happens. Items like photo views, etc are also not being updated. Any help is much appreciated.

Try accessing your pages without leading www. Post a non-admin test user account if this doesn't help.

Hits counter works as expected for me. Keep in mind that admin views are not being counted.

I've tried, but because I've integrated it with phpbb, so I keep getting the following error:
You don't have permission to access this page.

I've a test account:
user: test
pass: test

You have a different issue to what you said before: from your initial report I thought that your changes on the config page are not being taken into account. But actually, you can't access the config panel in the first place, as you're not being recognized as admin.
The account you PMed me is not an admin account. Not in your forum, and subsequently not in Coppermine.

Using the admin account you PMed me I accessed you config page (located at http://www.thekohs.net/photos/admin.php), changed something and tried to save my changes, which sent me to http://www.thekohs.net/photos/admin.php, which displayed a 403 error page

You don't have permission to access /photos/admin.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.37 Server at www.thekohs.net Port 80
. It appears that you either have some hardening patch on your webspace (ask your webhost) or that you have an .htaccess file in place that interferes. Not related to Coppermine, but webserver setup

Hmm ok I realized I was constantly loading from the cache that's why I didn't get the 403 error at home. Ok, so it has nothing to do with the permissions with admin.php? What is the default permission setting for that. Or does it have anything to do with the permissions settings anywhere else?

My server has DirectAdmin and Installtron installed, and they tend to mess up a bit with the settings.

That's what I thought.

Not seen from the coppermine side.

I don't know those tools/apps. Maybe renaming admin.php to foobar.php helps (you'll have to access the config page manually then.
If this doesn't help, ask your webhost.

Do as I suggested and ask your webhost for support - I wouldn't want to live with crippled webspace and use workarounds to administer it if I were you.
