I don't understand:
i want to have 1 user upload files i  groups of some sort which will be organised by date.
As your name is Brian I guess that English is your first language, so please review your question and write proper English if possible.

i don't want any user galleries, but i can't seem to be able to get rid of them....
Disallow your user(s) to have personal galleries (groups page!) and get rid of the existing personal galleries, then this particular category "user galleries" won't be displayed any longer. Please read the documentation - this is being covered in detail there.

Hi,

thanks for your reply. I am still having problems as follows, I am sure it is simple but I can't find the the answer (at least so far)

I have tried removing all the user galleries and photos. I then set (in config mode, groups) the registered users group to to be allowed to upload to public albums, and to not be allowed to upload to a "Personal Gallery". When I then try to upload using the only registered (non admin) user I get an an Error message as follows:

Sorry there is no album where you are allowed to upload files

And just to recap what exactly it is I am trying to achieve>

I want one non-admin user to be able to upload files and create a container (album, gallery or category?). There will be a new container for every weekend. Non registered users should ideally be able to see the containers named by the weekend whereas at the moment they are a sub-group under the user. Essentially there is no need to to see a user name...

Thanks for your advice....

Brian

You'll have to specify the album(s) that the non-admin user is suppossed to be able to upload to using the album properties screen. Please read the documentation - this is all being covered there.

In your particular case, create a special group (name it "uploader" for example) and make that one user who is suppossed to be able to upload member of this group. Then disallow the members of the registered group to upload at all, and allow the group "uploader" to upload to public galleries. Then go to the album properties as suggested above and set "visitors can upload" to "yes" for those albums the superuser is suppossed to upload to.

using this method will the new user group be able to create albums?
No. Only the admin can create albums within public galleries. No workaround existing.

Issue solved?

As I suggested: there's no workaround. Either grant the superuser admin privileges (if you fully trust that person) or live with the missing feature. There is no mod nor hack that could possibly change this afaik.
