Cant get "User migration" and single sign-on to work
« on: May 31, 2006, 12:31:10 am »

Hi
pnCPG 3.3 CPG145 PN075

I check "Update Coppermine users from Postnuke" but it doesn't work. PN and CPG admin is the same username and password. The AdminSettings.txt is not quite following the leadtexts in the config pane, but I think I got them right.

I'm not sure about theese though:
Host for Database name:
DB user for host:
Password db user:
I'm not quite sure which physical home address I should type there - my hotel writes something about a "Unix path"... could that be it? /customers/yourdomain/yourdomain/httpd.www/ ? Don't know how important it is for my problem.

Thanks.

Lars,
if you have both databases on the amchine and have used the same userid/password you do not need an entry there. If  you have used different userid/passwords or machines you do need to fill this and then physical path woulb be something like you are suggesting. It has to point to the postnuke home directory.
The easiest option however if both databases are on the same machine is to ensure that the Postnuke Database User also has access to the Coppermine Database.

Sorry, Cas, I was away for some time.
I don't quite follow - I am not very experienced in neither PN database nor pnCPG. Could you be a little more specific?

rgds.

Lars,
when installing postnuke you had to list a database-user/password. All you have to do is to use the same database-user/password when installing Coppermine.
Once you have done that, you can leave the entries you are uncertainabout simply empty.

I seem to be having a simular issue. The users are being populated into cpg (only after the existing usr signs into pn) but its not letting users sign in. If I reset the usr pw thru cpg they can then log in. They arnt able to reset the pw either, they get " Selected user does not exist! " & cpg does show the user there & registered.  ???

pncpg 3.5, cp 1.4.10, pn 7.6.4

Are you using the dynamic User Data function of Postnuke ?
This is what will enable users to log on to Coppermine and Postnuke indepently and integrated.

That doesnt have any affect. Its deff not integrating into my postnuke site. The only thing its putting into cp is the username, no password, email addy, etc (which is why pw reset doesnt work).

Ive gone over the settings numerous times & I dont think im missing anything.

A link would be nice.
I am willing to verify your settings provided you make an account available with enough privileges. You can send that by pm.

Almost forgot, I just created that account. It showed up in cpg right aways. Doesnt show an email on the acc but I did get an email w/ a randomly generated pw. Doesnt let me login with that pw though. The email that it came from is: spetkov@nytka.org.  :-\

As I mentioned in an earlier reply, you should setup the Dynamic User data, something you did not do.
I have done this for you and all is working fine.
If you go to My Account, you can maintain the password.
If users access the Gallery the first time, they will not be logged in but a password is created, second time they will be logged in automatically.
Hope you like the mod.
