I have cleared my cookies and I have downloaded the adminpass.php as recommended. 

I did the automatic upgrade from Fantastico and noticed that I was unable to "enable" anonymous browsers to view (I would choose "Yes", save it and yet it didn't stick).  I made the big mistake of choosing "reset to defaults" (out of desparation) and now I can't get in at all.  I've been browsing this site for the better part of an hour and tried all the tricks.

Is there a default admin username & password?

If there was a default user name and password, all malevolent users would be able to hack your page, so obviously there can't be one. Don't upgrade using Fantastico, as it is buggy and outdated. Upgrade as suggested in our docs, it's the only supported method.

This is not a coppermine issue. Ask your webhost for support. You probably have set up some improper hotlink protection using -htaccess technology. Delete any .htaccess file existing in coppermine's root folder (after having backed it up as a precaution).

i decided to upload a fresh batch of cpg 1.4.10, make up new msyql database and just recover the albums.

it is a lot easier than to work around broken links
