login problems
« on: November 02, 2006, 09:21:51 pm »

Coppermine install: http://gemcitygeo.org/gallery/cpg149/
Forum install: http://www.gemcitygeo.org/forum/
Coppermine version: cpg1.4.9
Forum version: phpBB 2.0.21
CPG test user account: tester/123454321
forum test account   gallerytest/123454321

BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL:  http://www.kazburg.com/gemcitygeo/forum
Relative path to your BBS's config file:  ../../forum/
Use post-based groups?:  1

This is an add-on domain with both programs on the same domain.

THe bridge seems to be connected because when I login to Coppermine it will take me to the login page for my forum. There seems to be a few wierd things going on. I will be logged in on the forum but when I go to the photo album it won't let me login. I know trough trial and error I am logged in but it takes me to the page for people not logged in. I've played with the cookies but nothing seemd to work.

I have the cookie path for both the forum and CPG set to "/" and both have a different cookie names.  I,m not sure what to do now.

You can't bridge across different domain names.

The forum and the gallery are in the same folder. I changed the bridge manager setting to point to just the add-on domain but it still doest work. After I run the bridge manager CPG tells me I'm not logged in. I then go to the forum and I am not logged in. If I look at the "who's online" section of the public forum I see my name but I am still in the public area and have to log back in to get to the members area.

It's still not working the way I thought it should. Here's what happens.

If I log in on the album page it takes me to the forum's login page and I login. It the takes me back to the gallery and I'm not logged in. I then go to the public page of the forum and it's only showing me the public page but I see my name in the "whois online" ( I am hitting the refresh button also)
So basically the forum page shows me as being logged in but when I go to either gallery or forum, I'm not. I have to log in again on the forum's login page to read our forum.
Something else I noticed which might help but might not belong in this thread is when I log out of the gallery it takes me to .....mydomain.com/index.html

Your bridge is working, but you have links that switch between www and non-www. You should set phpbb's cookie domain to .gemcitygeo.org for it to work on both urls. (clear your cookies after doing this). Logout works as expected for me, returns me to the gallery.
