Directory X is not writable, pictures can't be deleted

Hi, I'm trying to delete an album from the Album list but it keeps showing the following message "Directory X is not writable, pictures can't be deleted". All the files have been deleted from the database too. Does anyone know how to delete an album from the list? thanks, Mdc
