info.php tells me:

gd
GD Support  enabled  
GD Version  bundled (2.0.15 compatible)  
GIF Read Support  enabled  
PNG Support  enabled  
WBMP Support  enabled  
XBM Support  enabled  

upload_max_filesize 100M 100M
upload_tmp_dir /tmp/php /tmp/php


i set coppermine to gd2

however, when i try to upload a jpeg it tells me:
PHP running on your server does not support the GD image library, check with your webhost if ImageMagick is installed



pls help!!!

You will note JPEG support is not among the list of enabled types.  You need to recompile with the JPEG library as discussed at php.net and boutell.com.

when i try to upload a .png i get the same error:

Yes, because you don't have the JPEG library.

Coppermine checks for the JPEG library before anything else when it processes pictures.  If it is not there, it shuts down regardless of the image type.
