www. log in problems

This is an odd thing. I had a problem that when I log in it says 'welcome -> continue' and then doesn't bring up any of the admin buttons. So seemingly not logged in. ???
I have now found that if I remove the www. prefex it will log in. I can't think of an answer
I saw a thread in this forum with a similar problem but it had no answer.
Any ideas?

This is a cookie issue:

http://test.com

http://www.test.com

Each URL is a different cookie (it's just the way the web works).  If you start at test.com and are redirected to www.test.com after you log in, you won't be logged in.

Has been asked (and answered) several times already. Search the board for "www subdomain cookie"
