please help, don't think this is working right
« on: September 13, 2006, 02:24:48 am »

Okay, so I got my photo gallery up and running. Its version 1.4.8 (stable). All is nice, except that  when I go into user mode, I can't upload pictures anywhere. It comes up with a message that says, "you don't have permission to upload images in this album", or somthing like that. Is there a simple way to fix this?
I only uploaded 1 photo, and that was in admin mode. Please help.

Have you read the documentation?  As a user, you have to create an album in your personal gallery, or you must have permission to upload into a public album.

From the docs:
Quote
When you are in user mode you are still logged in as an admin user, but the admin controls (the admin menu bar etc.) are hidden from the screen to give you a basic preview of what the page would look like for "regular users". However (as you still are logged in as admin), certain permissions and options in user mode will still look the same as if you were in admin mode; you can not use "User Mode" to see what a non-admin user is actually allowed to see. To see what a casual visitor can see and do on your site, simply log out. To see what a registered user can see and do on your site, create a test user account (non-admin) and log in with this particular user (when doing this it is recommended that you use two different browsers, NOT two instances of the same browswer, to view your site so you can stay logged in as admin on one and view what regular users see while making changes in admin mode.

On the groups page, set "Public albums upload allowed" to "yes" for the registered group. Then go to the properties of the albums your users are suppossed to upload to and set "visitors can upload" to "yes". This is all being explained in the docs, please read them carefully before posting in the future.

No PHP skills needed. That's why you're using a pre-made script like Coppermine: someone else coded it (in PHP), so you don't have to.
