E-Mail validation when register?

I have phpbb 2.0.6 with coppermine 1.2.0 final, when a user insert the e-mail in the register process it dosent check if is valid or not, dont sent an e-mail with to the users e-mail to check if this exists, please help i want that the registration process check it.

In the config for phpbb there is the option: Enable account activation - set that to 'User'.
