problem with 'batch add', used to work fine...

hey my coppermine gallery istalled just fine and i've been adding picutres for a while. recently though when i try to add photos with the 'batch add' tool it keeps reterning that red hexagon with the PB in it. i have no idea what happened to the gallery to change how it's functioning all the sudden. i can usually troubleshoot things like this but i have no idea where to start on this one. is there some kind of diagnostic tool that i can use to find where it went wrong? and if not, what's my best course of action, reinstall?
